HISTORY OF KOPEX INTERNATIONAL
Kopex International (formally Uni-tubes Ltd) was founded in Slough in 1947. Easrly expertise surrounded the application of the Kopex machine, capable of processing a wide range of strip material into convoluted tubing.
1947 - Uni-Tubes Limited formed.
1950s - S Smith & Sons Limited gain an interest in Uni-Tubes Limited.
1960s - Unique method of manufacturing PTFE tube developed. Uni-Tubes merges with Icore International.
1970s - Growth in DIY business especially the plumbing area. This leads to the introduction of hand bendable copper pipe called Kopex Copperbend.
1980s - To complement metal conduits, a new, innovative, all nylon, non-metallic system called Kopex PMA was introduced. Demand grows for chemical resistant, low smoke and fume conduits. Special jackets are developed and introduced along with an explosion proof barrier gland.
1986 - Uni-Tubes becomes Kopex International.
1988 - A unique copper cutting device called Pipeslice was developed and introduced. Patented in all significant world markets.
1990s - Kopex introduces the 'Quick Click' nylon system. New markets established for UK sales and export.
1999 - Quick Click range expands
2002 - Kopex purchased by Volution Holdings Ltd. New ASK initiative is launched to provide assistance to Specifiers & Architects and re-launches itself as "The original and the best" name in conduits.
2003 - Kopex launches new re-developed website and new catalogue. These contain comprehensive product ranges including Ducting, Pipeslice and Elkay Glands, Timers, Terminal Block and Connectors.
